Vellum Competition
Relation to Thesis.
My thesis, focusing on rebuilding Altadena after the Los Angeles Wildfires, inevitably touches on the topic of destruction and rebuilding afterwards. What if, when designing a piece, I destroy a piece of material or even a regular piece of furniture, and then rebuild it into something new. Or patch the holes with a new, fire resistant, materials. Like pebbles found outside.

Theoretical Model
Week 2: The Change
After the Review on Friday, September 26, 2025, I made the decision to not destroy Furniture. Instead, I chose to thrift several old chairs, maybe a stool. And I plan to repair the damages, maybe modifying them to be more comfortable. Why several pieces instead of 1? If you have 3 chairs, people can move them around, using different arrangements, and building community. What we must remember when rebuilding Altadena.

For my final design, I chose to turn this rocker into a multi-person rocking bench. Since I was able to source 2X2 8 foot planks of wood, I designed a pattern of 6 inch blocks joining together the larger planks of wood.
While attaching the pieces was a challenge, the final result was truly stunning.
The final part was creating a poster that fits the piece. I happened to have multiple t-shirts that I no longer wear. I cut most of them up and used 2 t-shirts as the pillow case. And, finally, I painted the title From One to Many on one, and a quick summary on the other.
